Happy Halloween!!

October was a busy month from day one to today, but all those busy days added up to a fun and super fulfilling month.

Early in the month I planted my garlic, and started the process of putting my gardens to bed for the season, collecting the last of the waning tomatoes, carrots, greens and eggplants before they succumbed to frost. I’m really proud of just how well the garden did this year and how much I was able to learn from it. I’m super excited for next year.

As always with this time of year Chuck spent most of it in the woods, hunting. He was lucky enough to pick up a doe with is bow about half way through the month. That leaves us with some meat in the fridge and plenty of time to go after more. I couldn’t be more pleased.

In addition to our seasonal hobbies, we had a number of events. I went to NYC for Techmunch, we made a trip to northern Vermont for a house warming party, I was able to get the living room painted (oh man it’s so much better!), we went apple picking, went to a pumpkin carving party, and I got some hiking in. I’m sure that there is even more that I am missing.

As the weather gets cooler I always get excited for fall and winter cooking, so there have been a lot of fun new recipes showing up at our house that I can’t wait to share with you. I’m also in the process of making some changes on the blog, just some prettying up here and there mostly but I’m hoping these small touches will brighten the place up. I really think the blog is doing well, and I’ve finally found my stride with what I like to write about as well as what you guys enjoy reading. It’s a tricky balance, and something I am constantly working on.

Overall, I’d say it was a good month, and I’m super excited for November to start. The holidays are coming and I’m looking forward to getting in touch with people I don’t see often enough, and spending more time with ones I do see often. It’s a time for family, friends and good food. What could be better?
