This weekend is the big day, my first mother’s day. Unfortunately, I won’t be home to celebrate it, but that’s ok. There will be another weekend day when Chuck and the baby can make Momma some crayon pancakes and we can snuggle in bed. Let’s be serious, this kind of thing is a regular occurrence anyway, because I love to cuddle.

Amongst the many things, I learned from having a baby is that staying in touch with friends can get hard. We are struggling to make time to sleep and shower over here, let alone get dressed enough to see people. However, we still need to see our people, like in person. We need the excitement of actually getting dressed, the support, and the conversation with actual adults.

For the last 5ish years my friend Amanda and I have been hosting an annual cookie party. Now the typical premise of a cookie party is for all the guests to make something like 6 dozen cookies, of the same type. Then at the party, everyone is able to exchange cookies and leave with a variety of cookies. That is not this party….
Summer is a busy time for us, made busier this year with our new little addition. It’s also very hot out, which means I’m not a fan of standing in front of the stove for a long time. For that reason, it seems like we are having way fewer dinner parties than I would like. In an effort to get-together with more people, a little more often, I’ve started really pairing down my menus to really simple dishes.
