My Current Favorite Teas

By Jessica

For someone who drinks tea throughout the day, nearly every day I don’t seem to talk about it a whole lot on here. I want this space to be a reflection of everything that I am in the moment that I am writing it.

I thought it would be good to start with a collection of my current favorite teas.
Monks blend – it has a way of soothing my nerves that’s absolutely amazing. Its flavor is a Ceylon black tea that is blended with a light grenadine that truly lifts the caramel-vanilla flavor to a new level. It is one of my favorite to sip on as I sit down at my computer to work on the weekends.

Irish Breakfast – I think this is/has always been my favorite. Barry’s is the best, but I may be bias, since it’s my Grams favorite also.
Bengal spice – I have allergies, and this year I am making it through without medication. Halleluiah! This tea is a non caffeinated herbal blend with a super strong flavor.  I make it very dark, and blend in a touch of honey to sooth my throat. The strong spices help to clear out my sinuses before bed and I wake up feeling so much better than without it. I also will drink some during the day if I am having a particularly bad bout.

Classic Green tea – I drink this made very weak sometimes at work when I want more than just water. The hint of flavor gives me just what I am looking for.

Peppermint tea – I make this when my stomach is feeling off or I have a headache. Just the smell can do wonders on a headache. It’s an herbal tea that has been used for centuries for it’s healing properties.

I”M SO EXCITED!

By Jessica

Now everybody else get excited. It’s National Grilled Cheese Month! I’m so enamored with grilled cheese. I could eat it every day that is if
I was capable of making it without burning the bread which 7 out of 10 times I will
do without fail. I’m getting better though!

It helps that I have been making grilled cheese once a week
for the last several weeks. You see I get excited about pretty much any
celebration, especially celebrations of food, especially when they have cheese
involved. Since it’s Friday I’ll give you the run down of this months awesomeness in Friday Five format.

1 – In case you are interested the National Grilled Cheese Academy
has an annual contest to find the best grilled cheese. Check out last year’stop contestants, you will thank me. And if you are interested in submitting an
entry get ready because it’s happening now!

2 – My favorite grilled cheese in the whole wide world is the Margherita Grilled cheese. I mean you know my feelings on the pizza version, but this grilled cheese is the easier format to transfer all that deliciousness.

Margherita Grilled Cheese

2 slices thick slices of bread
½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
3-4 basil leaves
1-2 slices of tomato
Light drizzle of balsamic vinegar

On one slice of bread stack the cheese, basil, tomato and
balsamic drizzle. Top with the other slice of bread and lightly butter the
outside slices. Place in a warm pan over medium heat and cook, flipping
occasionally until the cheese has melted and the outside is crispy. Serve
immediately.

3- I’m working on a compilation of grilled cheese, kind of like the best index for grilled cheese ever. So  get ready for that one at the end of the month.

4 – In the mean time if you are looking for ideas to help you celebrate this momentous occasion check out Food Network’s List of 50 Grilled Cheeses.

5- Also since it’s Friday lets Back that Azz Up with possibly the best song ever written, and performed by none other than Elmer Fudd.

Brody Stories: I Like to Cuddle

By Jessica

Oh HEY GUYS!

Hi…..Hi!
Do you remember me? Brody?
It’s been a while since I stopped by, but my mom wanted to
talk about my cuddle habits, and I just can’t let her do that without me. Besides shes got a serious case of the downers right now. The washing machine broke, there are a million things going on and work is a little stressful so I figured I’d help her out and tell you the truth about my cuddling habits.
You see she just thinks I’m being cute, and that I need her and my dad or something.

In reality they need me, my mom LOVES it when I cuddle her, and she knows that I’m here to protect her, even if she won’t admit it. And yeah I like to sit on her lap even when we are at other people’s houses because it’s comfy, and I want other people to know she’s mine. There’s nothing cute about any of that, so don’t think for a minute I’ve lost any street cred.
It also helps that sometimes she will cover me up with a blanky and it all toasty warm under there. Who wouldn’t enjoy that?

Sometimes when they have friends come over like my Uncle Pat I like to lay on him to. He’s always good about playing with me, even if he is all hungover.  Not that I take no for a reason no to cuddle anyway.
That’s all for now folks, with this nice weather I need to get my play time in. It’s been a long winter.

Have a good week!

Brody Stories: Snow Lovin’

By Jessica

HI!

Hiya hide Ho Guys!

It’s been a while since I’ve visited Mom’s blog, so I thought I’d give you an update on the puppy life.

Since it has gotten cold mom has stopped running outside with me, but I don’t mind so much, because no I get to go to Day Care once a week right near here work. It’s great; I absolutely love Miss Shawna and all my friends I get to play with them all day! Sometimes afterward I’m so tired I don’t even eat my dinner and I just get in bed when I get home. It’s THAT MUCH FUN!

Another thing that’s a lot of fun is snow. I wasn’t sure about it at first but now I love it. I love to run and jump in it and make it fly all up in the air. I like to attack it while mom and dad are shoveling, so I end up with it all over my face. I really like to run in it, I feel like a little bunny jumping through it all.

The thing I don’t get is snow balls. Dad makes them and throws them for me to get but right after he throws them I either loose them, or if I try to bite them they disappear. It’s crazy!

Know what else is crazy. My mom. She’s been really into cuddling lately. She’s always trying to pull me under the covers on the couch and snuggle her. Sometimes I really like it because it’s really warm and I get sleepy, but other times I have to be like “mom, no. I’ve got to be able to roam free and bark at the wind when it makes the house creak. It’s kinda my job ya know?” She doesn’t get it, but they never do do they?

Well I’ve got to get going for now. Hope you all have a great weekend!
