Brody Stories No. 3

HI GUYS! Hi hi hi HAI!!

I thought I would stop by and see what’s going on.

In case you haven’t heard (which I’m sure you have because my mom is telling everyone) my parents are getting married. This means we will be a real family and I am so excited about that.

Except my mom has kind of been acting like a crazy person lately.
Can you get nesting syndrome from getting engaged? That must be the case because she has it. Suddenly nothing in this house is good enough, and there’s all these new rules. Like how she’s making dad remember to take the garbage out on time, so the pile of recyclables by the door that I like to play with is never there anymore.
She’s redecorating again! So now there’s gonna be new pillows I can’t chew on and she’s trying to talk dad into getting rid of my favorite chair to jump on. It’s like I’m getting demoted from being first priority around here.

It’s ok though while she is running around trying to clean the house I make sure to follow her around and stand right in her way so that she doesn’t forget about me.

We’ve also been go go going, all the darn time. Every. Single. Weekend. We go here or there and do this or that, there is all this family stuff to do now, and people that want to see us. Plus I think moms whole blogging thing is working out because now she has all these side projects that I’m not sure she is keeping up with.

I hope things calm down soon because the holidays are coming and from what I’m hearing those are crazy enough. I want to slow down and enjoy the fall! I really like it, it’s nice and cool like it was in the spring when I was born, but there’s apples everywhere! And I LOVE apples.

They are one of the few treats I’m allowed to share with my parents, they don’t usually let me do that, but I guess apples are good for me so they let me eat them.

Welp, there a raw hide waitin for me behind the couch, thanks for chatting with me! I hope you have a great Friday!

Brody Stories: Hiking Abraham & Ellen VT

Oh! Hi again! Hi Hi HHIIEEEE!

In case you didn’t have the pleasure of meeting me before,
my name is Brody, I was adopted by my mom and dad not too long ago, and most
of the time
they are the best parents in the whole world.

Ya know I really love that they love the outdoors as much as
I do, but sometimes my mom is a little too crazy about it.

Last weekend best friend Baxter came over to my Grand-momma
Chucks house and spent the night so that our moms could take us hiking the next
day.

I was so excited I got up a couple times in the night and my
mom had to put me back to sleep, but eventually she finally got her lazy butt
up and we drove all the way up to Bristol VT. We left Baxter’s moms car in Jerusalem at the Jerusalem trail head
and took my mom’s car to the Lincoln Gap Trail head. The road up there was
REALLY steep, and Baxter and I were all excited because we knew we would get to
play in the woods soon.

The Lincoln Gap trail up to Abraham was super easy for me, but I had to
keep going back to check on my mom, she’s a lot slower than I am. I had a
little trouble with a couple of the scrambles, but I got through them all on my
own, and after 2.6 miles we were at the top. We had to go on the leash then
because of the vegetation up there, but that was ok, I was ready for a snack and
a little break, plus it was pretty.

Next we hiked along the ridge, for about 3.7 miles. It was
pretty easy and a nice walk, Baxter and I had a good time racing up and racing
back to our moms. We got to take little a break near Sugar Bush, and a quick stop to read the sign on Lincoln peak, then by the
time we finally hit Mount Ellen I was starting to feel tired. Luckily Mom took
a break and I got to take a quick nap in the soft grass before we started to descend
the 4.3 miles down the mountain. The first part was pretty rocky, and steep,
but then it flattened out some and was easy downhill walking the rest of the
way out.

When we finally got to the car our moms told us that they
were left the keys in the other car, so we had to keep walking down the road to
the country store and wait for my Grand-momma to come save us. She’s the best.

It was a lot of fun, and also super tiring. I did nothing
but sleep on the way home, and all the next day. Mom was pretty much there with
me since we hiked a total of about 12 miles (including the 1.4 to the store).

Welp that’s all for now! Have a great weekend!!

Oh P.S. My mom wants me to give a shout out to Carrie for some awesome pictures of me!

Hiiii!! HI! Hi, Hi! Oh hi! Hi! How are you? Hi! I’m so
excited to meet you guys!

My name is Brody. I know, I know I’m handsome, it’s ok we
don’t have to stay on that topic all day.

I just turned 6 months old, so in dog years I’m just
starting to get into the rebellious teenage years. Not that I give my parents
any trouble (wink, wink).

I’m a mutt, but I prefer pure bread mix of dog races, it
sounds a lot better don’t you think? I’ve got a little of the best of a bunch
of breeds, which makes me so very awesome.

Almost every day when my mom and dad get home from work I
get to go on long walks, or runs. They like to take me to lakes and streams on
hot days and try to make me swim. I don’t like it very much, but I really like
balls and sticks so when they throw them in the water I just have to go and get
them. I really like it when they take me to the ice cream place next door.
There are so many people there who just want to pet me, and so much stuff to
sniff it’s awesome!

I also get lots of these awesome treats that my mom makes
me. Here’s the recipe if you are interested, courtesy of Miss Amy.

Frosty Paws

1 mashed banana

2 tbsp peanut butter

32 oz plain yogurt

Place all ingredients
into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into an ice cube tray and freeze. Serve frozen.

Usually we go adventuring on the weekends. I like it when we
go camping, I can dig anywhere I want, and chase squirrels, and bark, and there
are always lots of sticks, man I love sticks. They are the greatest thing ya
know? You can carry them around, and my parents sometimes throw them for me to
get, but I haven’t got the bringing back part down yet, I’m working on it.

Sometimes they take me to their friends houses where we stay
up late, and they drink beers, and play games, and eat food, while I play with
the other dogs, and try to steal the bean bags, or balls from their games. It’s
pretty fun.

By the end of the day I’m almost always pooped. My parents
make sure of that. I like to cuddle up on the couch with them, even when it’s
supper hot out. I just love my parents so much; I can’t help but want to lie
next to them. When I’m really tired I get all floppy. My mom can pick me up and
try to move me and I just flop over and go back to sleep. For some reason she
thinks this is cute and still tries to play with me, it’s very annoying.

Welp, that’s all for now. Mom’s going to cook something for
dinner, and I need to get in there and trip her up to make sure she drops some
good stuff for me. See you later!
