This Guy and this article brings tears to my eyes. I’m so happy to call Burb’s a friend. We are all so proud of you man!

Do you realize that this is my 400th post. I mean 400 is a lot of posting. It’s kind of an accomplishment.

For some more woman fueled inspiration.

Oh and:
Rothblatt created this awesome/terrifying robot, and all people want to talk about is her gender? – Best quote ever from this article. I mean seriously I would give anything to spend an afternoon with Martine.

I started learning about essential oils. Not only buying my first set, but picking up some reading material too. So far so good. The headaches are at bay, and the sleeping is so much better. Chuck May or may not be convinced they are the cause of some of his headaches, but we are working on that.

I got in touch with some friends I hadn’t seen in a while for some much needed chats. It was reviving.

September was the month of weddings. Kicked off by my future brother & sister in law over labor day weekend.

It was also the month of tomatoes. So.Many.Tomatoes.

Keeping this in mind while I plan a fall detox.

Apple Picking is a highlight for me every year, and since then I have been on an apple recipes binge. If your interested in everything apple check out some of my past recipes (Chicken w/ Apples & Fennel, Apple Pork Chops, Engagement Tart, Crockpot Clean Applesauce, Apple Spice Meatballs, & Vermonter Panini)

This Idea. WOW

10 most important things to simplify your life.

And while we are on the topic, I will be doing alot of cleaning this weekend so here 5 Questions to ask yourself while Decluttering

Yoga might have to start happening more often. These poses are a good start.

I relaunched my old recipe page. Replacing my pinterest boards It’s the best I can do now, but someday I would like to use pictures as well instead of just titles. That is a lot of coding with blogger though, so it’s a ways down the road.

This is the best blogging advice I’ve seen in a loooong time.

I also launched a newsletter, that you should totally sign up for. There will be no spam, I promise. Just a once a month update that includes the tops posts from the past month as well as anything written by me elsewhere on the net and any big news I have for you. It’s totally worth it. Just sign up already!

And because we haven’t talked music in a while, and I’m totally obsessed with song right now.

Here is a list of stuff I have been up to, and things that have been on my mind recently:

Happy Labor Day!

There were lots of bachelorette, and bachelor parties this month that culminated in my future Sister and Brother in law’s wedding on Saturday. Congratulations all around!

Did you know you can remineralize your teeth? (link 1, Link 2)Holy wow! My mind was pretty blown from the info on potatoes in the last post. Now we need to talk about teeth, and dentistry. This information is literally jaw dropping (see what I did there).

A few reasons we should all be grateful.

I cannot say enough about this podcast. I have been obsessed lately. Even if you aren’t a business owner or a blogger, it’s just so cool to learn more about how other people and artists actually make money, live their lives, and spend their time. Seriously inspiring.

Do you know how many fruits and veggies you should eat in a day? This collage spells it out beautifully.

Date night.

I have been loving tomato recipes this month. I already made Mimi’s tomato Tart, Joy’s Tomato Cobbler with blue cheese biscuits, panzanella, fresh tomato sauce, and Herb Roasted Tomatoes & Chicken and tomato season isnt even half over yet!

I FINALLY finished The Paris Wife. It was so hard! Hadley is such a frustrating character. I’m not sure Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald would be much better considering all that is said about her but it’s on my to read list as well, someday.

I also FINALLY finished Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander Book 2). This series is amazing and I need to get my hands on the third book.

Also I am currently 1/2 way through The Queen of the Tearling. So far so good.

. . . Maybe I shouldn’t have given up on my monthly book reviews quite so soon?

There is a lot going on in the middle east right now, and it all breaks my heart. Samaritan’s Purse is doing what it can for displaced families over there, and I’m sure they would appreciate all the help they can get.

Just YES!

We finally got to the woods for a little local hike, as well as camping for Chuck’s birthday. I even got to spend a weekend up at my parents camp. I feel whole again. I had been missing the woods so bad!

I started out as a contributor for The Charming Blog this month. I am super stoked about the opportunity to work with some amazing ladies. You can catch my first post here and I’ll try to keep you updated on all my future posts.

I love this.

So I have finally made the decision to stop posting monthlyreading updates. I simply don’t read enough books lately. My focus has been on
journals, magazines, and blogs, things that don’t fit neatly into this category.
Though this might change one day and perhaps at that time I will resurrect this
series, for now however, it’s just not in the cards.
Instead I’m going to start a new series, right now we are
calling it Recently. I hope that this series will force me to become a better documenter
of our lives, something that I have been desperately trying to get better at. Besides
these are my favorite types of posts to read from other blogs, so I thought
that maybe you guys would like to see them here as well. So without further ado.
Recently.
Yes we are starting with a book, because I finally just
finished it, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one in the series. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon they are super long, but super good!

I’ve been getting my summer frozen cocktail on, by the pool,
the beach, and on the couch. I just can’t get enough. It seems to be a pattern
though, because last year at this time I was making a different fruity
cocktail every week.

It’s Chuck’s birthday week. He’s finally reached my status
of oldness, so maybe he will start going to bed at the same time as me now. To
celebrate we are headed off to the woods for a nice long break from reality, I’m counting the days until we get there.
I just downloaded The Queen of the Tearling (Notice the $0.00 price tag!) for the trip, because ain’t
no body want to be lugging the extra 5 lbs that is Voyager (Outlander Book 3). I will be
starting that one upon our return.
My first vox box from influenster arrived a few weeks ago. I received AveenoPositively Radiant Targeted Tone Corrector. Overall I liked the product, it went on smooth and I didn’t
feel anything on my face afterward. I did notice after a couple weeks of use that some of my
darker freckles had faded. I also noticed that it took me a month to write that little
blurb for influenster and I still feel cheap. Besides I find that Vox Box Products don’t seem
to be in line with the holistic, sustainable approaches I’m currently feeling. While
I did enjoy some aspects of the program I really just don’t think it’s a good
fit here on SL&G. Readers; thanks for putting up with the little experiment though.

I read this post that lead me to this article.Yes Yes and YES. I cannot agree more. I know some of my friends think I’m crazy for the numbers of people I always have coming and going in my house (this weekend was a great example), and that I’m always cooking for these people, but this is so important to me. I grew up in a home where dinner time mattered, and it was the highlight of the day as it should be. Please read this article. It’s necessary.

My past yoga teacher wrote a book! Since we moved last year I havent been able to attend many of her classes but Jennilee is one of the most amazing and inspiring women. I would really love it if she was able to reach her kickstarter goal and get her book published. You can find more information about it all at her kickstarter page.

I was super inspired by this post, and I’m going to get my but in gear because of it.

Can we talk about this? We could all be beautiful and powerful if we had that much money too.

This article on potatoes has really got me thinking. I am amazed that this kind of stuff actually happens. Even if you don’t want to read the article at least watch this video. This girl is amazing, adorable, and the knowledge she’s giving us is crazy.

Currently.

Everyone seems to be doing these currently, recently, what I’ve
been up to, kind of posts lately. I guess they’ve always done them I just never
really caught on to that band wagon, not that I haven’t tried once or twice. It’s
just not the kind of thing that lasts for me. Sometimes I just feel so separated
from this space; like you guys have no clue anything that goes on in my life. I
mean yeah, I come here a few times a week, and drop a few lines about my new
favorite recipe, or ideas for upcoming even menus, books, cocktails, link ups
and all that nonsense, but do you guys really feel like you know me? I guess
the better questions is do you want to know me?

I feel like you do. I love learning more about bloggers in
these kinds of posts so I’m gonna roll with it and you can tell me to stop at
any time. No guarantees that I will but you can feel free to throw it out
there.
Writing: my
workout plans and results to help keep me motivated. It’s really working well.
Eating: Everything
green. I cannot explain why I have been having these insane green veggie cravings.
Maybe it’s the season.
Working: my butt
off at work. I seriously need a break from all that. Memorial day weekend
please come sooner.
Wishing: I wasn’t
so busy so I could my butt in the woods. I’m feeling unbalanced right now.
Practicing:
creativity. Since it seems to have slipped away from me lately.
Learning: A lot about
photography. I’m a slow learner so it’s taking me a while but I love the way my
pictures are improving. Thank you Pinch of Yum!!
Attending: Lots of
baby & Bridal Showers
And Searching: for just the right thing. It’s not easy when you want
to do more than just grab something off the registry.
Trying: Desperately to
reduce the amount of things that we have. It is another of those slow and
steady projects I have. Consumerism is a suffocating disease.
Listening: to Lana Del
Rey. I am addicted.
Loving: Being able to
sleep with the window open, and smell the fresh spring, post rain mornings.
Making: A real effort
not to be so hard on myself. If dinner isn’t on the table on time, or if it is
and it’s nothing special, it’s not the end of the world. If the house isn’t
clean I’m not going to die, it’s not like the queen of England is coming over.

Craving:
Doughnuts. I blame instagram.
Thanks for playing along. What have you been up to lately?
